Election 2022

Candidate Survey

All candidates for regional and local councils were invited to fill out a survey to clarify their positions on important local environmental issues.

The survey is comprised of yes or no questions. There are 6 questions for local council candidates and 7 questions for Regional Council candidates.

Based on the results of the survey, we have endorsed candidates with the highest amount of “yes” responses in each race as our Preferred Climate Action Champions. These are the candidates who we believe are most likely to listen to our concerns and fight for the implementation of the necessary climate mitigation and adaptation strategies.

Additional Information

In the event of a tie, we have given both candidates our endorsement.

In the event that the candidate with the most “yes” responses in their race has fewer than 5 “yes” responses, we have refrained from giving our endorsement.

In the event of dishonesty from the candidate with the most “yes” responses in a given race (ie, campaign materials or public comments blatantly contradict survey responses) we have refrained from giving our endorsement, and may instead endorse the candidate with the next-highest number of “yes” responses.

A detailed list of all candidates’ responses (or non-responses) can be found here
